Rinse out the gutter and dry it off. The cost to fix sagging gutters yourself is cheap. They might have deteriorated over time the fasteners may have backed out of the wood or they re spaced too far apart to support the weight of full gutters. If a gutter isn t draining properly it s either not sloping toward the downspout or it s sagging and needs to be raised you have to patch any hole right away so it doesn t grow larger.

Dump a small bucket of water into the gutter to wash out any leftover dirt and grime. Run water into the gutter at the top of the downspout and watch the drainage at the bottom. Check downspouts whenever you clean your rain gutters. Hangers generally cost 10 or less apiece and the fasteners run about 1 each.

Buy a tube of roofing cement 1 40 and a metal repair patch several inches larger than the damaged area. Just hook the bracket under the front lip of the gutter and then screw the other side of the bracket to the fascia. Normally water leaks happen because the fasteners holding gutters together have loosened up or the gutters themselves have holes or cracks on it. Once you re finished cleaning dry out the gutter with a clean cloth or paper towel.
